Articles - English Grammar with Hindi Explanation

Articles ऐसे शब्द होते हैं जो nouns के पहले आते हैं और यह बताते हैं कि noun किस तरह का है – विशेष या सामान्य।

Definition: An article is a word used before a noun to indicate whether the noun is specific or general.
Article वह शब्द होता है जो noun के पहले लगाया जाता है और noun के nature को दर्शाता है।

Types of Articles (Articles के प्रकार)

• 1. Definite Article – "The" (निश्चित वस्तु के लिए)
• 2. Indefinite Articles – "A" और "An" (कोई अनिश्चित वस्तु के लिए)

1. Definite Article – the

“The” का प्रयोग किसी विशेष (specific) व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान के लिए किया जाता है।

The sun rises in the east.
सूरज पूर्व में उगता है।

Use of "The":

• जब चीज़ विशेष (specific) हो:
  I saw the movie you told me about. मैंने वही फ़िल्म देखी जो तुमने बताई थी。
• सभी unique चीज़ों के साथ:
  The Earth, The Moon, The Taj Mahal
• समूहों या वर्गों के लिए:
  The rich should help the poor. अमीरों को गरीबों की मदद करनी चाहिए।
• समुद्र, नदियाँ, पर्वत श्रृंखलाएँ:
  The Ganga, The Himalayas

2. Indefinite Articles – a और an

“A” और “An” का प्रयोग किसी भी एक अनिश्चित वस्तु या व्यक्ति के लिए किया जाता है।

Use of "A":

• साधारण singular noun से पहले, जो consonant sound से शुरू होता है।
  He is a teacher. वह एक शिक्षक है।
• Words starting with: b, c, d, f, g... (except vowel sound)

Use of "An":

• साधारण singular noun से पहले, जो vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u) से शुरू होता है。
  She is an artist. वह एक कलाकार है।
• Words starting with vowel sound: an apple, an hour, an honest man

Special Notes (विशेष बातें):

• “An” का प्रयोग उन शब्दों के साथ भी होता है जो vowel sound से शुरू हों, चाहे spelling consonant से हो:
  an honest man, an hour
• “A” का प्रयोग उन शब्दों के साथ होता है जो consonant sound से शुरू हों:
  a university, a European trip

When Not to Use Articles (जहाँ Articles नहीं लगते)

• Uncountable nouns और plural nouns के पहले जब बात general हो:
  Milk is good for health. दूध स्वास्थ्य के लिए अच्छा है।
• Proper nouns के साथ:
  Rahul is my friend. राहुल मेरा दोस्त है।

Conclusion:

Articles छोटे शब्द होते हैं, लेकिन इनका सही प्रयोग sentence को सही अर्थ देने में मदद करता है।
Articles को समझना और सही जगह पर लगाना बहुत जरूरी है।
